The Supreme Court has ordered a new Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe allegations of adulterated ghee used in laddus distributed at the Tirupati temple. The court has emphasised that it does not want the matter to be made into a political drama. The new SIT will consist of two CBI officials, two Andhra Pradesh police officers, and one senior officer of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. The court has stated that the allegations have the potential to hurt the sentiments of people worldwide, hence an independent SIT is being formed.
