In Karnataka, the Siddaramaiah government has decided to put the "Best Principal Award" on hold for BG Ramakrishna, principal of Kundapura Pre-University (PU) College in Udupi district. Ramakrishna was originally chosen by the state’s Education Department to receive the award on Teacher’s Day, along with Ramegowda, principal of Hunsuru PU College in Mysuru district. However, the award has been paused due to his involvement in implementing a hijab ban at his college.
SDPI had also expressed strong objection to Radhakrishna getting the best principal award.
