6 Stories At 6: WAQF Violence In Bengal | Credit War Over Tahawwur Extradition | Kishtwar Encounter
Bengal was up in flames as Muslim mobs with no fear of law broke into violent protests on the streets of Murshidabad and elsewhere over the Waqf (Amendment) Act. Dramatic visuals from Mushidabad and elsewhere in Bengal showed protesters torching vehicles, destroying public property and engaging in pitched battles with riot police demanding the rollback of the Waqf reform law.
Yet another dastardly attempt by Pakistan to send terrorists across the border, leveraging the melting snow and dense foliage, was foiled by alert troops on Friday night. Republic accessed exclusive footage of two Pakistani terrorists trying to sneak across in the cover of darkness. However, the troops detected their movement and opened fire forcing the cowards to beat a hasty retreat.
In a major counter-insurgency breakthrough, three heavily armed terrorists were eliminated during an intense operation in the remote hills of Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir. The high-risk mission, was part of an expanded campaign to flush out extremist elements hiding in the mountainous stretches of the Jammu region.
The 26/11 attack accused Tahawwur Rana, who played a key role in the 2008 terrorist attack in India’s Mumbai, was interrogated by the National Investigation Agency. And in the initial round of the questioning, Rana has already reportedly revealed some surprising information.
The extradition of Tahawwur Rana to India has sparked a political debate. Opposition parties, including Uddhav Sena and Samajwadi Party , have questioned the timing and claimed credit for the long-standing efforts.
