A recent analysis by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) shows a nationwide air quality crisis, with pollution hotspots concentrated in northern and eastern states. The study reveals that Delhi is the most polluted territory, while 11 districts in both Delhi and Assam failed to meet national PM 2.5 standards. According to the study, ‘60% of India breathes toxic air’. The report also notes that while southern and coastal states have cleaner air, Mumbai is a notable exception where authorities are considering implementing GRAP Stage 4 measures as the AQI worsens. Meanwhile, in Delhi, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) conducted a trial for a new hot air balloon ride, which was attended by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena.
