The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council has proposed a big relief for insurance buyers by removing GST on all individual health and life insurance policies. This covers term life, ULIPs, endowment plans, family floater health policies and even senior citizen plans. Reinsurance linked to these policies is also exempt.
The step is aimed at making insurance more affordable for the common man and boosting coverage across the country.
