Delhi’s air quality remained in the very poor zone for the sixth straight day on Wednesday, with an AQI of 391. Data from the CPCB’s Sameer app showed pollution worsening across the city, as 18 of 38 monitoring stations reported severe air quality, signalling an escalating health risk for residents.
While multiple factors contribute to worsening the city’s air quality, including excessive vehicular emissions, the burning of garbage incinerators, and smoke from stubble burning in neighbouring states, a significant factor behind the consistency of the pollution is the capital’s natural geography.
