In Karachi, hundreds of demonstrators stormed the consulate, opening fire, prompting security forces to use tear gas. Protesters in Gilgit-Baltistan set fire to a United Nations office in Skardu. The embassy in Islamabad and consulates in Karachi and Lahore suspended visa services, citing ongoing violent protests. In India, the centre issued a pan-India advisory, boosting vigilance outside embassies and consulates, and beefing up security at the Iranian embassy. Protests erupted across Indian cities including Srinagar, Delhi, Bengaluru, Jammu and Kashmir, and Lucknow, with police using tear gas to disperse crowds in several locations.
