The Ministry of External Affairs has provided an update on the evolving situation in West Asia and the Gulf region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, emphasising the safety and security of Indian nationals and advocating for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the conflict. External Affairs Minister also spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi on bilateral and BRICS issues. Tragically, two Indian nationals died in an attack in Sohar city, Oman, with 10 Indians injured, five of whom have been discharged. Since February 28, around 1.5 lakh Indian nationals have returned from the region. The MEA control room, established on March 4, has received 900 phone calls and 200 emails. Additionally, 170 Indians have returned from Iran via Armenia. Efforts continue to facilitate the safe repatriation of Indians, including the 15 crew members of CFC Vishnu.
